As of 4:30 P.M. March 8, no severe weather had been detected in the DFW area although strong storms were still underway in Collin County, moving Northeast. After the last of the storms clear Collin County within an hour, expect gusty winds from the West, then Northwest.
Power outages are still possible due to isolated wind damage to winter-weakened tree limbs.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch from Dallas Eastward until 8:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 8.
Counties affected: Grayson, Collin, Hunt, Wood, Dallas, Rockwall, Kaufman, Van Zandt, Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, Rains, Red River, Franklin, Titus, Upshur, Camp.
Synopsis: A squall-line of thunderstorms that formed in southern Oklahoma at 1:30 P.M. is building southward into North Texas including Cooke and Denton Counties. Storms are moving northeast as they continue to intensify. Rotation has been noted on radar but the primary threats will be gusty straight-line winds and hail. Be prepare for power outages due to winds and lightning.
DFW is under a SLIGHT RISK of Severe Storms this afternoon.
The heaviest storms will be North and East of Dallas this afternoon and evening but DFW is posted under the southwestern edge of the SLIGHT RISK area.
