Extra Oncor crews are working hard to restore throughout North Texas this morning.
Tens of thousands of customers lower power either from lightning strikes or physical damage to poles and wires during two primary complexes of severe thunderstorms that raked through Wise, Denton, Collin, Hunt, Tarrant, Dallas, Rockwall, Ellis and Kaufman Counties overnight.
The last big storms left the area by 4 A.M. after hitting North Texas with 70 mph winds and up to 1″ hail. No other inclement or threatening weather is likely this weekend.
Oncor crews are generally following the path of the storms- from northwest to southeast across the DFW Metro area.
Please disconnect sensitive electronics to protect them against any sudden power surge when power is restored to your neighborhood today. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for Tarrant, Johnson, Dallas and Ellis Counties until 10:15 P.M. for gusty winds of 60+ mph. Frequent lightning, gusty winds, brief heavy rains and small hail. Prepare for power outages which are increasing rapidly across the DFW area from northwest to southeast. Storms will exit the area after 10 P.M.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Denton County until 9:30. Line of strong to severe storms moving from west to east at 50 mph with gusty winds, moderate hail, brief heavy rains and significant lightning. Plan on power outages and minor wind damage from these storms.
A strong line of fast-moving thunderstorms is approaching the DFW area from the northwest. The storms are roughly 30 miles northwest of downtown Fort Worth and 45 miles northwest of DFW Airport..moving southeast at 45 mph. They will reach the northern Tarrant County suburbs by 8:30 and DFW Airport by 9 P.M.
Storms have a history of moderate hail, gusty winds and lightning. Plan on scattered power outages.
Strong storms including power outages are possible tonight as a major cold front blasts through North Texas late tonight.
Gusty north winds behind the cold front will produce high fire danger east of I-35 tomorrow (Tuesday), despite whatever rains we receive tonight.

A wide band of strong thunderstorms is sweeping through North Texas with heavy rains, strong winds, small hail and frequent lightning. Just before 4:30 A.M., the storms stretched from Lewisville through greater Fort Worth and most of Tarrant County.
